Privacy is a feature, not a settings page

Good privacy decisions belong in the workflow before they become checkboxes.

Design the default

Privacy is easiest to understand when a product explains what it needs, where information goes, and what can stay on your device. A long settings page cannot repair a workflow that collects more than it needs.

For AI tools, bring-your-own-key access can give people provider choice. It does not mean requests are automatically private: the selected provider still has its own processing and retention rules. Those boundaries deserve plain language.

A useful review question is: could this feature work with less information? Start there, then make deletion and export understandable. Trust is a design constraint, not a marketing shortcut.
